The rising cost of college — even before the recession — threatens to put higher education out of reach for most Americans, according to the biennial report from the National Center for Public Policy and Higher Education.

I think it's horrible how much the prices for a decent college education have been jacked up. I feel so lucky that I graduated while I could still afford to go. It's interesting the article mentions a "no-frills" education, because without all the room and board, dorm food (Ick!) and student fees associated with big name universities college might actually be affordable. While there's nothing like "going off to school" at a traditional university I probably wouldn't be able to afford it now, and would have to opt for a community college instead. I also thought it was interesting how the people who have more money get more help via scholarships and loans while the people who have less money get less. That doesn't make any sense! It's keeping those people even more behind by making it harder for them to get a good education.
